Bonus pages love big numbers: a 100% match, a four-figure cap, free cases. The number that matters is smaller and never on the banner: what the bonus is worth after the wagering you must do to unlock it. This guide shows how to work that out, then lists the offers our partners currently give.
Types of bonus
- Deposit match. The site adds a percentage of your first deposit, up to a cap. 100% up to 600 means a 600 deposit gets 600 of bonus, and a 50 deposit gets 50.
- Free bets or bonus bets. A stake you did not pay for. Usually only the winnings are paid out, not the stake itself, so a 10 free bet at 2.00 returns 10, not 20.
- Rakeback and cashback. A share of the house edge or of net losses returned to you. No big headline, but often worth more over time than a one-off match.
- Skin site codes. Small deposit bonuses (often 5%), free cases or a little free balance when you enter a creator code.
Wagering and rollover
Wagering (also called rollover or playthrough) is the total you must stake before bonus money becomes withdrawable. Two things decide how heavy it is:
- The base. Bonus only, or deposit plus bonus. 5x on a 100 bonus is 500 of stakes. 5x on a 100 deposit plus 100 bonus is 1,000. Same multiple, double the work.
- The cost per unit wagered. Every bet loses the book's margin or the game's house edge on average. Required turnover multiplied by that edge is the expected cost of clearing the bonus.
The rule of thumb: bonus value ≈ bonus amount − (turnover × edge). If the result is negative, the bonus costs you money on average, however generous it looks.
Worked examples
A sports deposit match
Say a book gives a 100% match on a 100 deposit and asks for 5x the bonus on accumulators of three or more legs, each priced 1.40 or higher, within 7 days. The numbers are illustrative, but the structure is a real one.
| Step | Value |
|---|---|
| Bonus | 100 |
| Turnover (5 × 100) | 500 |
| Return per leg at a 5% margin (1 ÷ 1.05) | 95.24% |
| Return on a 3-leg accumulator (0.9524³) | 86.38% |
| Expected cost (500 × 13.62%) | 68.10 |
| Expected bonus value (100 − 68.10) | 31.90 |
Accumulators multiply the margin, which is why sites ask for them. If the same 5x applied to deposit plus bonus, turnover would be 1,000 and the expected cost about 136, more than the bonus itself. The 5% margin per leg is an assumption; a book with wider margins makes it worse.
A casino bonus
A 100 casino bonus with 35x bonus-only wagering on slots at 96% RTP needs 3,500 of spins. At a 4% house edge that costs about 140 on average, so the bonus is worth roughly minus 40. The only way it pays is a lucky run early, which is exactly what max cashout rules are there to limit.
Plug your own numbers into the bonus rollover calculator to see the turnover, daily pace and number of bets an offer needs.
Max cashout, game weighting and expiry
- Max cashout. Some bonuses cap what you can withdraw from bonus winnings, for example at 5x the bonus. Anything above the cap is removed. With a cap, the rare big win that makes a bonus worth chasing is cut off.
- Game weighting. Low-edge games often count for a fraction of their stake. If blackjack counts 10%, clearing 3,500 of wagering takes 35,000 of blackjack, and even at a 0.5% edge that costs about 175.
- Minimum odds and bet types. Sports bonuses often exclude bets under a set price, system bets, cashed-out bets and both sides of the same market.
- Expiry. A short window forces you to bet more, faster, and on worse markets. Divide the turnover by the days you have and check the daily figure is realistic for you.
- Bonus order. Some sites spend your real balance first and lock it with the bonus until wagering is done. A withdrawal request before then can void the bonus and its winnings.
Free bets and site credit work differently: there is nothing to roll over, but the stake is not returned. The promo converter shows how much locked cash a bonus bet is worth if you hedge it.
Case and skin site bonuses
Skin sites mostly offer small deposit bonuses (5% is the common figure) and free cases. A 5% bonus on a 100 deposit is 5. If a 1x rollover applies to deposit plus bonus, you must play through 105. At a 95% return, that costs about 5.25 on average, roughly the whole bonus. Case sites rarely publish their edge, so treat any rollover as costing most of a small bonus.
Free cases are worth what they drop, and most drops are low-value. Several sites also require a public Steam account at a certain level before free cases unlock. Our free cases guide covers the common conditions.

Before you claim
- Check the site accepts players from your country, and that you are 18 or over.
- Find the wagering base and multiple, and work out the total turnover.
- Multiply turnover by the margin or house edge to get the expected cost.
- Check minimum odds, accumulator rules, game weighting and excluded markets.
- Look for a max cashout cap and the expiry date.
- Read how withdrawals work while a bonus is active.
- If the numbers do not work, skip the bonus, and check whether you can decline it at deposit.
